Objekte. Werkauswahl 1962-1971, curato da Benjamin Buchloh.

Long time I want to write about Sigmar Polke, an artist who I'm following and loving since a while and who can be associated to artists beloved by connoisseurs.
The occasion came thanks to an article in the last issue of Arte (pp.44-45) about his solo-exhibition in Siegen called Moltiplicazione dello humour.
Polke, together with Gerhard Richter, Konrad Lueg and Manfred Kuttner, belongs to the group of artists that in 1963 in Germany founded the movement Kapitalisticher Realismus, which was criticizing German mass society using Pop art's style, but in a bitter way.
If you remember, in an old post I wrote about an extremely rare catalogue-artist's books of Gerhard Richter that has the same name and which was published a year after.
Polke's works usually attacks miths, habits and behaviour of the society and they are often realized with the technique of points, starting from an enlarged image which points are transferred manually on canvas. He uses collages too.
His creativity is visible in his catalogues and artist's books too, as in the first catalogue I've proposed, which has been realized in collaboration with the artists Achim Duchow in 1977. The book is already estimated for 100-200 euros.
Another not less important, and somehow more rare, is Bilder. Tücher. Objekte. Werkauswahl 1962-1971, curated by Benjamin Buchloh.
