Among the last few books I have recently added to my personal contemporary art collection, features the catalog of the paintings of Chris Ofili, who was the undisputed protagonist at the last Venice Biennale.
He was born in Manchester in 1968 and, 30 years later, he was awarded the renowned Turner Prize for visual artists in London.
The catalog is the second one published on Ofili after the one from his exhibition at the Victoria Miro Gallery from 1996. It has already received high quotations, even though it is still too early for an actual revaluation.
His very first solo-exhibition, held at Gavin Brown’s in New York City in 1995, didn’t produce any catalog, or at least not that I am aware of.
